PCB manufacturer Gold Circuit Electronics expects its operations to swing back to profitability in 2014 thanks to brisk sales of server and HDI PCB boards. Sales of server-use boards currently account for 50% of Gold Circuit's total revenues.
Server-board orders received for April and May have been strong, pushing the capacity utilization rate of its server-board lines up to 80-90% at present, said the company.
Revenues for the second quarter of 2014 are expected to grow at least 10% from the previous quarter, the company estimated. First-quarter revenues reached NT$4.09 billion (US$135.29 million), up 3.3% on year.
Meanwhile, the company's PCB factory in Changshu, China is currently running at full capacity thanks to orders for HDI PCB boards from white-box handset makers in China.
Gold Circuit posted a net loss of NT$874 million in 2013, a significant improvement from the losses of NT$1.77 billion a year earlier.
